Christmas Hit
This year's Christmas Spectacular has opened and been an instant hit, with packed houses. Saturday was also a special day, as they watched the show, for Derek and Sharon Smout who were celebrating their 35th Wedding anniversary, they both met while working at the Hippodrome in 1981, Derek was a groom for Yasmine Smart looking after the horses and Sharon worked as an usherette.
The Hippodrome Spectacular has many new acts never seen in Britain before the Artic Ensemblefive incredible aerial artistes from Finland, with their Korean Cradle, Cloud swing, Washington Trapeze and flying pole acts. Also new are the Duo Lookart two artistes from Poland with an incredible Hand to Hand balancing act that features in the Hippodrome Water Spectacular and an amazing aerial cube number. From Belgium comes the incredible basketball juggler Paly Odimbolenko in a street dance style sequence with the children from Dance Estelle and all the way from Chile comes the dare devil Cardenas Brotherswith their edge of your seat presentation of the legendary Wheel of Death, and the magical comedy world of Hugo Miro.
Producer and host Jack Jay who now has his own Radio Show on BBC Radio Norfolk said "It's been
a fabulous opening with nearly sold out shows, WOW what a way to get ready for Christmas, and
next week I am doing a special feature from The Hippodrome on my Radio show to be aired on Monday night at 7pm".
The Spectacular Christmas show has now become a new Norfolk tradition and is one of the largest Christmas shows in Europe with over 50, performers. Peter Jay owner of the Hippodrome said
"People have been travelling from miles away to see the show, I was amazed to meet some people from Leicester, Harwich and Kent who had driven to Yarmouth to see the show just for the day "
We are definitely reaching out to a much wider geographical audience, word is spreading about the amazing things we have here on the East Coast, and this year will be our best ever for audience numbers since I have been at The Hippodrome.
The Christmas Spectacular now runs till 6th January with shows every day except Christmas Day, check website as times vary. Put some Wow into your Christmas!
