Join Historic England, Place Services and our partners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council for a free online lunchtime talk about our work to revitalise Great Yarmouth's historic high street.

During this one-hour lunchtime talk on Monday 28 February, our partners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council will talk about how they are regenerating their local high street. We'll look at how heritage plays an important role in creating characterful places for people to enjoy life, work and leisure.

Our Listing Team will chat about what listing is and how it helps shape our historic high streets, sharing local examples of listed buildings, scheduled monuments and registered parks and gardens.

Our partners at Place Services, who have been working with us to review list entries for protected historic buildings in the HSHAZs, will explore how you can take a new journey of discovery around your High Street Heritage Action Zone, learn about its historic moments and uncover more of its hidden past.

Learn how to Enrich the List and add your information, photographs, film clips and memories to list entries on the National Heritage List for England for everyone to see and enjoy.

EilĂse McGuane, Listing Advisor for Historic England in the East of England said: "We're delighted to be hosting these free online lunchtime talks with our partners at Place Services and High Street Heritage Action Zones in the East region, to share the work we're all doing to restore and rejuvenate our historic town centres.  We're really looking forward to chatting to communities about their local history and highlighting protected heritage sites that people may not have seen - or may know a lot about! Hopefully, this will inspire people to take a fresh look at familiar spaces and to share their knowledge with others."

Maria Kitts, Senior Built Heritage Consultant, Place Services said: "We have been delighted to work with Historic England and the East of England High Street Heritage Action Zones in reviewing the List entries for such a fascinating group of listed buildings. We are looking forward to sharing some of our research and helping people to learn how to find out more about the history of the places they live in and visit.  High Streets are important places which reflect the cultural and economic history of the country, from its pubs to its department stores, cinemas to war memorials."

Cllr Carl Smith, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council said:"Thanks to the funding and support we receive from Historic England, the revival of our historic buildings and characteristic structures within our High Street Heritage Action Zone area is an exciting ongoing project which helps enhance our local high street.

"Great Yarmouth has a lot of work going on to sustain the culture of the town and this is a great opportunity to hear all about it.
