Gorleston beach ranked one of the world's best

The sandy stretch has received a 2022 Travellers' Choice Award, marking it as in the top 10% of destinations and attractions globally on the popular website.

The awards celebrate attractions that have received great traveller reviews from visitors around the globe on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months.

The beach at Gorleston is described on the site as "A stunning bay with a huge, wide curving, sandy beach with ramp access plus model yacht pond and children's splashpad. With adjoining shops, cafes, amusements and amenity area, everything you need is close by."

It has received more than 2200 reviews, with more than 70% giving the top Excellent ranking - recent comments include "Huge beautiful beach. Very clean with parking as well as places to both eat and shop close by. Highly recommend a visit." and "A beautiful bay and clean beach! Love that it is untouched and a real gem of a place to visit! A definite must if in the area!"

Great Yarmouth Borough Council leader Carl Smith said: "We are spoilt with 15 miles of gorgeous coastline within the borough, and the beach at Gorleston is definitely one of the jewels in the crown. Living here we know how lucky we are, but it is great to have that recognised by a huge and influential website like Tripadvisor.

"It is fantastic that Gorleston has once again been recognised as one of the best beaches in the world."

Tripadvisor chief commercial officer Kanika Soni said: "The Travellers' Choice Awards recognise the best in tourism and hospitality, according to those who matter most: your guests. Ranking among the Travellers' Choice winners is always tough — but never more so than this year as we emerge from the pandemic."

It is the fourth year in a row that the beach has been highlighted in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice awards.
