ATW offers events most weekends of the year, ranging from running to duathlons, swimming, cycling-sportives and triathlons.

The final triathlon event of 2022 is taking place on Sunday 25, September. The triathlon has the option of three distances to tackle, with the shortest being a Sprint Distance of a 500m sea swim, 21km bike ride and a 5km run. The most challenging distance is the 100km Centurion, consisting of 1km sea swim, 84km bike ride and a 15km run.

All the races begin at 7am on the beach with the contestants charging in to the sea to complete laps of a triangular route. After an energy-sapping run back up the beach, they head North along the seafront for a cycle inland around the surrounding countryside before returning to the seafront for a multi-lap run leg on the promenade, ideal for the support of cheering supporters and visiting tourists.

Cllr Carl Smith, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said: "This is a great event we are happy to see returning to the golden mile of Great Yarmouth. Everyone in the family is able to get involved, whether that's as a supporter or competitor in the course."

Mike Jubb, Head of Events at ATW, said: "We love coming to Great Yarmouth. The seafront is the perfect venue to host a triathlon, ideal for both beginners and experienced triathletes alike. After finishing, it's great to see the participants enjoying the local cafes and hospitality venues that Great Yarmouth has to offer."

ATW are looking for marshals to help at the event in several roles ranging from car parking, registration, marshalling the bike course, marshalling the run course, helping at the finish line and in the transition area.

All the roles are paid at £10/hr (£6/hr for under 18s). No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and positive attitude. If interested, please email

Entries for the Triathlon are available online, through Active Training World.
