New video and 3D visualisation promotes Great Yarmouth's new offshore energy Operations and Maintenance Campus

The Campus aims to drive investment in the renewable energy sector in the region and is a central part of the council's economic strategy.

The video has an exclusive preview at the Offshore Energy Exhibition and Conference taking place in Amsterdam this week. As Europe's leading offshore energy industry event, it provides a unique opportunity to showcase the new Campus to business leaders, experts and professionals.

GENERATE is the pioneering partnership of regional business and political leaders which is leading the way for future investment and development of the energy sector in Norfolk and Suffolk.

As well as launching the short film and generating interest in the Campus, the GENERATE team will be helping promote the infrastructure and opportunities in the region - which currently has more than half of all the UK's consented offshore wind projects.

Work on the Operations and Maintenance Campus - at the southern tip of the South Denes peninsula - is fully funded and already underway with demolition complete and new maritime facilities for service operation vessels and crew transfer vehicles (and associated quay space, parking, servicing, storage areas and access roads) being completed by the end of 2023. The Campus is also future proofed by being equipped for electric vessels.

Situated close to the town's deep water outer harbour, Great Yarmouth Energy Park and the new third river crossing which is due to complete in mid-2023, the multi-million-pound Campus is a key part of the continued investment in the borough designed to attract new businesses, jobs and homes.

The partnership project is being delivered by Norfolk County Council, with significant investment and support from both Great Yarmouth Borough Council and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership. This builds on successful Enterprise Zone delivery to date across both South Denes and Beacon Business Park.

As a key investment opportunity within Great Yarmouth's Town Deal and the council's strategy for economic growth, its delivery is expected to provide a major boost to the local economy.

''The Operations and Maintenance Campus will be a flagship development for companies working within the offshore wind sector and I'm delighted that work to deliver this key infrastructure has already begun. It will provide companies with a unique opportunity to influence how the area is developed, with bespoke design-and-build packages and standardised accommodation units giving businesses looking to locate to the area a range of attractive options to consider. Here at Great Yarmouth Borough Council, we are optimistic the Campus will attract important investment and support regeneration and create jobs in our community.''

Chris Starkie, Chief Executive of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, commented: "This development will not only deliver for Great Yarmouth but for the entire region, attracting investment, generating jobs, and further positioning our coast as an international hub for offshore wind. The ports of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft have become strategic centres for the renewables sector and have huge potential for further growth in their world-class operations and maintenance facilities, manufacturing and assembly.

"This £21.4 million facility will put the area at the forefront of technological advancements in O&M and its excellent transport links to London and Europe and its location right next to Yarmouth's deep-water port makes it perfectly located to serve the offshore wind industry."

The Operations and Maintenance Campus project is a collaboration between Norfolk County Council (NCC), Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (New Anglia LEP) which operates the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Enterprise Zone.
