Cycling and walking routes

Great Yarmouth is a beautiful borough to discover on foot. You can find full details on walking in the borough via the Visit Great Yarmouth (opens new window) website.

You can view our Cycle routes in the Borough, with seven leisurely routes, mostly run on roads and dedicated cycleways. It aims to provide cyclists with routes that make the most of the rich and varied local scenery in the area, from beaches to historic churches, to longer cycle routes that take in castles, windmills, country estates and other tourist attractions.

The Norfolk Coast Partnership provides information on cycle routes in the county, including the Norfolk Coast walking and cycling trails (opens new window). Further information on walking and cycling routes in Norfolk can also be found on the Norfolk Trails interactive map (opens new window).

Cycling and walking routes plan

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is working in partnership with Norfolk County Council to create a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan for Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.

The objective of the plan is to identify and prioritise improvements that can be made to the cycling and walking network over the short, medium and long term. The plan includes proposals for new and improved routes that will link residential areas to places of education and employment, as well as recreational spaces along the coast and Broads network.

An online survey, designed to gather views to shape proposals on how to improve our cycling and walking routes, ran until 08 September 2021.
