Housing fraud

What is housing fraud?

Some of the most common forms of housing fraud are:

  • Obtaining housing by deception - when someone gets allocated housing by the Council by withholding or giving false information in the application
  • Illegal subletting - when a tenant lets out their Council or housing association home without the permission of their landlord
  • Wrongly claimed succession
  • You fail to use the property as your main home
