Success for Great Yarmouth Jobs Fayre

Over a thousand people from across the Great Yarmouth borough flocked to Great Yarmouth Town Hall for a Jobs Fayre on Wednesday 15th January.

Organised by Great Yarmouth Jobcentre Plus in partnership with Norfolk Community College project and Great Yarmouth Borough Council, the event saw over 1,000 people from across the local community meet with more than 40 employers to discuss career paths and employment opportunities.

Cllr Graham Plant, chairman of the council's Economic Development Committee, said: "I am delighted that the jobs fair was such a success and we were pleased to support this event to help to connect job-seekers with local employers."

Stuart Jennings, Project Lead for the Norfolk Community College project said: "This was a spectacular event, and an event we were very proud be part of. It was great to help our local community explore their career aspirations and network with local companies offering employment opportunities.'

The Norfolk Community College project is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund

The event featured stands from employers such as Parkdean Resort, Caring Moments and Premier Inn amongst others. There was also the chance to find out more about apprenticeships through East Coast College.

Several employers were particularly impressed by the event. Tropic noted 'We thoroughly enjoyed this event, it exceeded our expectations' with the British Army saying that it was the, "Best Jobsfair we have been to by far!'

With nearly 1000 opportunities available on the day, Anne Rawstron, Partnership Manager for Great Yarmouth Job Centre, added: "Our annual Great Yarmouth Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for local employers and job-seekers to connect with each other."
