While it is not possible to invite people to attend the annual event in person, due to Covid restrictions, the service has been pre-recorded in the chapel by the council's Bereavement Services Team and is available to watch on YouTube.

The service, which includes prayers, readings and music, is led by The Rev Charles Powels and Civil Celebrant Hazel Cresswell-King. People can watch on YouTube at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=161ki_DZz6w until 5thJanuary.

Cllr Penny Carpenter, chairman of the environment committee, said: " Christmas can be a bittersweet time as we remember those we've celebrated previous Christmases with who have since passed away. This year in particular, many people have sadly lost loved ones before their time.

"The virtual service is a safe way to come together as a community this Christmas and remember and pay tribute to those family and friends we've lost over the years, to celebrate their lives, good times we've spent with them, and keep their memories alive."
