Community champions
Introduction
Could you be a community champion? Make a difference in your community.
If you're over 18, live or work in the borough, and want to help share essential health and wellbeing information with your community—through friends, family, and neighbours — you can become a Community Champion.
We're seeking caring individuals across the borough to take on this important role in supporting healthy, thriving communities. Community Champions are vital connectors, spreading key messages and promoting wellbeing in their local networks. By becoming a Champion, you'll help address health inequalities and promote wellbeing. We're especially looking for individuals with connections to schools and educational settings in Great Yarmouth, including volunteer young people to join as Community Champions.
The role spans from emergency response to long-term health promotion, ensuring children, young people, and their support systems—friends, families, and caregivers—know how to access support when needed. Not only will you help ensure vital information reaches as many people as possible, but you'll also be a key voice in your community. We want to hear from you—what matters to your community, what's working well, and what can be improved.
What's involved?
The Champions get sent a newsletter every other week, this newsletter includes an array of helpful information for example myth busting health concerns, local events, opportunities to get involved with volunteering, Community Champions Padlet, Support in the community, Activities, Volunteering Opportunities and health tips.
There may be opportunities for catch-ups, usually held via Teams, and if any are scheduled, they will be shared with all Community Champions, and you will all be welcome to join.

Community Partnerships are friendly, in-person gatherings hosted by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to connect people who live and work in our community. We have two groups, one for Great Yarmouth and Northern Villages, and another for Gorleston and Southern Parishes. These meetings are all about bringing people together to explore local resources, address challenges, and find solutions to make life better for everyone in the area. We'd love for you to join us and be a part of creating positive change in our community!
