Other committees

Most of the Council's Committee meetings are held in public. Meetings take place at the Town Hall, Great Yarmouth and are mostly held in the Council Chamber.

Legislation excludes specific issues from being Executive decisions, including the Council's overall Budget and Policy Framework, quasi-judicial matters (such as planning and licensing applications) and issues related to staffing, audit, and standards.

The Council has established the following Regulatory Committees and panels to deal with these areas.

Audit, Risk and Standards Committee

The purpose of the Audit, Risk and Standards Committee is to monitor governance, risk management and internal control, to ensure these are efficient and effective.

Standards Sub-Committee

The Standards Sub-Committee is a Sub-Committee of the Audit, Risk and Standards Committee.

Licensing Committee

The Licensing Committee's purpose is to develop and adopt policies in accordance with the Council's strategies.

Licensing Sub-Committee

The Sub-Committee's purpose is to discharge the Licensing Committee's functions in relation to certain applications and determinations.

Employment Committee

The Employment Committee and its Sub-Committees are concerned with employment matters including Head of Paid Service, statutory and non-statutory Chief Officers.

Development Management Committee

The Development Management Committee deal with local authority planning applications under specific circumstances.

Select Committees

From time to time the Council, Cabinet or Scrutiny Committee may appoint Select Committees or Working Parties.
