Voter ID - make sure you are ready

The UK Government is changing how you vote. From May 2023, you will need to show photo ID when you vote at a polling station.

Pay online

Welcome to the Great Yarmouth Borough Council 24 hour secure internet payments service. You may make a variety of payments using this secure site with most major credit or debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Visa Electron (not Diners Club or American Express).

Alternatively, did you know you can sign up to pay your Council Tax or Business Rates using our Direct Debit online service? You can do this via OPENPortal. If you already pay by Direct Debit, and you have signed up for OPENPortal, you can use this online service to update your bank details or change your payment dates. If you do not have an OPENPortal account, you can complete this Direct Debit application/amend payment form.

You can also sign up for eBilling to have your Council Tax/business rates bill sent to you by email rather than post.

You may pay for any of the accounts shown below via our 24 hour secure internet payments service by clicking on the selected item:

Problems making successful payments?

If you experience issues in making payments, please check for and install software updates for your device.

If your device will no longer update to the latest version of the operating system, it probably means the manufacturer is no longer supporting your device. Check your manufacturer’s website for the version history of your device’s operating system.

If you have another device available to you, please try using that.

Security information

We partner with Capita plc for the processing of online payments. All online card payments are protected by Transport Layer Security (TLS), as recommended by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council and are directly processed using the Pay360 by Capita service. To ensure that your card details remain secure, information you send over the internet using our payment portal is encrypted using SHA256 level encryption, utilising TLS 1.2 protocol. This means your card details are protected using 256 bit encryption when your details are transmitted over the internet. This makes it virtually impossible for anyone else to discover and use your details.

Capita's online payment management solutions are independently and rigorously securities assessed, and are certified by Visa and Mastercard as a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Level 1 payment processor.

Check you are using a secure site

When you select any of the above links you will be transferred from www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk to Capita Service's secure online payment system. You can check your connection is secure by looking for the locked padlock icon in your browser's address bar. To view the SSL certificate click on the locked padlock symbol and select 'view certificate'. The certificate will appear as being issued to *.e-paycapita.com/Capita plc., Great Yarmouth Borough Council's payment provider.
