Privacy Notice: Communities Team

About us: Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council), Town Hall, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 2OF, 01493 856100, is the data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR).

How we will use your data: We will use your personal information for the purposes of providing you with targeted help or for referral to partner agencies who provide specialist services, in order to make sure you get quick and easy access to a wide range of support when you need it.

Your data will be used for this specific purpose although your details will be shared between departments and other agencies where there is lawful authority to do so.

Periodically, we may contact you to conduct a survey on the effectiveness of the help you have received. This information will be used purely for statical purposes to help improve the service provided. Anonymised survey results may be shared will our partners to help them improve the specialist support they provide.

The information gathered in these surveys will not be used to make any decisions about you.

The processing of your information is conducted with your consent as defined under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, i.e. the processing is necessary for the Council to perform a task and you have given your clear consent for us to process your information for this task. Where you have identified specific medical or health needs this data is processed with your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a), any criminal record data is processed under Article 10 of the GDPR.

Your information will be kept strictly confidential. It will be stored in a secure, password-protected database.

How long we hold your data: Your personal information is required to be kept for 6 years from the date of your last contact with our Communities Team. We will only use your data within the terms of data protection laws. We will review dates for keeping personal data in the future and if necessary, update these privacy notices.

Your rights: You have a number or rights available to you, including the potential right to see copies of all the data held about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, to request the Council to restrict what it does with your data in certain circumstances, to object to what the Council may do with your data, and to data portability.

Please note that these rights are not absolute and there are circumstances where they do not apply or the Council may override these rights, however, if this is the case you will be informed of this.
