Review and revision of the Brownfield Register
Review and revision of the register 2022
In accordance with the Brownfield Land Register Regulations (2017), the Borough Council has reviewed its Brownfield Register and revised it for publication in the 2022: Version 1 register.
Each site was reassessed against the criteria taking account of the most up-to-date information. Accordingly, some sites have been removed from the register while others now meeting the criteria have been added.
Sites expired from the register and reason
The following sites have been removed from the register because each has been built out so is no longer considered available:
- BFR18 - Horatio House, Southtown Road, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth
- BFR23 - 14 Camperdown, Great Yarmouth
- BFR54 - The Gannel, High Road, Burgh Castle
The following sites were also removed:
- BFR27 - 132 Gordon Road, Great Yarmouth:
There is no evidence that the site has commenced within the three years since the grant of planning permission and thus the permission is considered to have lapsed. The site cannot therefore be considered to be achievable or available in the absence of an extant planning permission or evidence to indicate otherwise. - BFR32 - 73 Southtown Road, Great Yarmouth:
A reserved matters application has not been received by the Borough Council to date and the outline permission is therefore considered to have lapsed. The site cannot therefore be considered to be achievable or available in the absence of an extant planning permission or evidence to indicate otherwise. - BFR41 - 43 Market Row, Great Yarmouth:
The previous permission informing this entry has been superseded, though evidence suggests that the site is only capable of supporting four dwellings and has a site area of less than 0.25ha. Therefore the site has been removed from the register. - BFR49 - 16 Southgates Road:
A reserved matters application has not been received by the Borough Council to date and the outline permission is therefore considered to have lapsed. The site cannot therefore be considered to be achievable or available in the absence of an extant planning permission or evidence to indicate otherwise.
Sites added to the Brownfield Register and reason
The following sites have been added to the register as they have planning permission and are therefore considered suitable, available and achievable:
- BFR80 - Former Edward Worledge School, Lichfield Road, Great Yarmouth
- BFR81 - Beach Coach Station, Nelson Road North, Great Yarmouth
- BFR82 - Former Centre 81, Tar Works Road, Great Yarmouth
- BFR83 - Ex-Edward Worledge School Site, Lichfield Road, Great Yarmouth
- BFR84 - Land east of Churchill Road and north of Estcourt Road
