Changes to online payments

Council customers may notice some visual differences when making online card payments from tomorrow as a result of updates by our provider, Capita.

From Tuesday 8 March an improved payment system will be implemented which offers better performance on mobile devices and improved accessibility.  It will also help the council get ready for an industry-wide upgrade to anti-fraud measures, known as 3D Secure 2, which is being implemented later this month.

The changes only affect online card payments made via the Council website and not telephone payments.

If customers are concerned they might not be on the right site, they can help protect themselves by:

  • Checking the website address begins with:
  • Making sure their browser displays a padlock icon next to the website address
  • Following links from the main council website, rather than from any suspicious looking emails or texts
