Free prize draw - terms and conditions

  1. These Great Yarmouth BC Free Prize Draw Terms and Conditions ("Terms") specify the terms and conditions of the free prize draw organized by the Promoter.
  2. The Promoter of the Great Yarmouth BC free prize draw ("prize draw") is Great Yarmouth Borough Council, having its registered office at Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QF.
  3. The prize draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary to enter into this prize draw.
  4. To enter the prize draw you must:
    • take out a new Great Yarmouth BC Tenants Contents Insurance Policy
    • already have an existing Great Yarmouth BC Home Contents Insurance Policy
  5. Entries received after the closing date, that is after 31 December 2024, will not be accepted. Entries that are incomplete, or illegible will be disqualified.
  6. The prize draw is open only to residents of the United Kingdom.
  7. Entrants must be over 18 years and may be asked to provide verification of age before the prize will be issued.
  8. The prize draw is not open to current employees of Great Yarmouth BC, its affiliates (meaning an entity that is Controlled by, Controlling or in common Control with Great Yarmouth BC where "Control" means the power to direct or cause the direction of the management and policies of an entity, whether through the ownership of voting shares, by contract or otherwise) or any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or running of the prize draw.
  9. Only one entry per entrant can be entered into the prize draw. If multiple entries are submitted, only one entry will be counted per entrant.
  10. Three prize winners will win the prize of a video doorbell.
  11. The prize is non-transferable, or redeemable for cash, and will only be awarded to the prize winners.
  12. The prize winners will be chosen at random from the eligible entries submitted in accordance with these Terms.
  13. The prize winner will be chosen after the closing date specified in clause 5 above, however no later than 31 January 2025.
  14. The prize winner will be notified by post, to the address on the application form.
  15. Use of a false name or address by a prize draw entrant, will disqualify them from receiving the prize.
  16. Great Yarmouth BC's decision regarding the prize winner will be final and binding, and no correspondence regarding that decision will be entered into.
  17. Great Yarmouth BC will retain the prize winner's personal details for a reasonable time in order that prizes can be sent to the prize winner. All personal data held for the purpose of this prize draw will be treated in accordance with Great Yarmouth BC's privacy notice for this draw.
  18. Great Yarmouth BC will ensure that the prize is delivered within 60 days of the day the prize winner provides Great Yarmouth BC with the delivery address and other details indicated by Great Yarmouth BC necessary for delivery of the prize. Where delivery within the abovementioned deadline is not possible, Great Yarmouth BC will notify the prize winner of the delay.
  19. In case Great Yarmouth BC does not receive any correspondence from the prize winner (pertaining to the prize winner's address or other details) within 90 days following the notification of the prize winner or the prize winner does not claim the prize delivered in accordance with clause 19, their claim is null and void.
  20. No alternative prize shall be available, save that when, due to circumstances beyond our control, the prize is not available, Great Yarmouth BC reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value.
  21. In the event of unforeseen circumstances Great Yarmouth BC reserves the right to amend or withdraw the prize draw without notice.
  22. Great Yarmouth BC accepts no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delayed in transit, including due to a technical fault.
  23. If the prize is unclaimed after reasonable efforts have been made by the Promoter to contact the prize winner or, if in Great Yarmouth BC's reasonable opinion, awarding the prize to the prize winner may conflict with Great Yarmouth BC's Anti-Corruption Policy, Code of Business Conduct or any applicable anti-corruption laws, the prize will no longer be available to that individual without any liability to Great Yarmouth BC and a new prize winner will be chosen at random from among the remaining eligible entries.
  24. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all liability of Great Yarmouth BC for damages and losses, costs, expenses, charges, and claims incurred in or connected with the use of the prize, or the prize winner's inability to utilise the prize, except where it is caused by the negligence of  Great Yarmouth BC, is excluded. Great Yarmouth BC shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or disappointment suffered by any person participating or not being able to participate in the prize draw. Entrants' statutory rights are not affected.
  25. Any tax liability arising from the award of the prize shall be the responsibility of the prize winner. In case of any doubts, the prize winner should seek independent tax advice upon acceptance of the prize.
  26. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
  27. Each of the provisions of these Terms is severable. In case any such provision is held by any court or other competent authority to be unenforceable, illegal or void, in whole or in part, the enforceability, legality and of the remaining provisions of these Terms shall not be affected or impaired.
  28. Entrants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. Great Yarmouth BC reserves the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  29. Any person or persons found to be in breach of any of the above rules will be disqualified automatically.
