In an effort to reduce the council's carbon footprint and save running costs, Great Yarmouth Borough Council has announced a new scheme which will see part-night lighting introduced in low-crime areas where there is limited through traffic.

Today's local election result means the Conservatives now have 19 seats on the council, Labour 18 and there are two independents.

Councillors, Great Yarmouth Borough Council officers and members of the public joined Cllr Graham Plant, Mayor of Great Yarmouth, in a flag-raising ceremony today (Wednesday, May 3) in preparation for this weekend's Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
