Licensing Act 2003 Licensing Policy

12. Enforcement

12.1Once licensed, it is essential that premises are maintained and operated so as to ensure the continued promotion of the licensing objectives and compliance with the specific requirements of the 2003 Act. The Licensing Authority will make arrangements to monitor premises and take appropriate enforcement action to ensure this.

12.2The Licensing Authority has established a protocol with the police and adopted its own enforcement policy. This policy provides for the targeting of agreed problem and high-risk premises, but with a lighter touch being applied to those premises, which are shown to be well managed and maintained.

12.3All enforcement actions taken by the Licensing Authority will comply with the Councils Enforcement Policy. To this end the key principles of consistency, transparency and proportionality will be maintained.
