Householders' duty of care

Beware of rogue waste collectors

R - Remember to ask questions:
Always ask what is going to happen to your waste and seek
evidence that it is going to be disposed of appropriately.

A - Ask for details of their waste carrier registration:
You can check if they are registered waste carriers by searching on the Environment Agency public register or by calling 03708 506 506.

N - Never accept unsolicited offers to have waste taken away:
such as someone cold calling.

G - Get more than one quote:
An unusually low quote should be treated with suspicion.

E - expect to pay a reasonable fee:
Paying to dispose of your waste isn't cheap.

R - Record the registration number of any vehicles used by a private waste carrier:
They may be less likely to illegally dump your waste if they are aware you have their vehicle details.

S - Share:
If someone offers to remove your waste and they are not or cannot prove they are registered, then please let us know.
