Privacy Notice: Abandoned Vehicles

Who we are: Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council), Town Hall, Hall Plain Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 2QF, 01493 856100, is the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How we use your information: We will use the personal information you supply for the management of abandoned vehicles. The lawful processing ground for this information is defined under Article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR i.e. the processing is necessary for the Council to perform a task in the public interest or for its official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law, namely the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978. 

Data Sharing: Your data will be used for the specific purpose of managing abandoned vehicles and will be shared between Great Yarmouth Borough Council departments and Great Yarmouth Services Ltd. Data may be passed to Norfolk Police as part of the investigation and removal process and with the DVLA as part of their audit of the Great Yarmouth Borough Council access to their records via NAFIN system. Data may also be shared with other agencies where there is lawful authority to do so.

Retention: Your information will be kept strictly confidential and will be stored securely by the Council. We will hold your information for 2 years from the date of application after which time it will be securely deleted.

Your rights:You have a number of rights available to you including the right of access, rectify, restrict, object or port your data.
