Recruitment begins as Marina Centre set for summer opening

Norfolk's newest leisure centre is now recruiting for its top team as plans gather pace for its opening this summer.

The new learner pool taking shape

The new £26m Marina Centre on Great Yarmouth's seafront will boast a six-lane swimming pool, learner pool and leisure water with flumes; along with a gym, sports hall, indoor climbing zone, community spaces and a café.

With only a few months to go until its planned opening in late summer, an exciting recruitment campaign is underway to find some outstanding individuals who will play a crucial role in the opening of the new centre and providing excellent customer service to the residents and visitors.

The centre will be operated by Freedom Leisure - one of the most successful and growing not for profit leisure and cultural trusts in the UK - on behalf of Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

Freedom Leisure, who recently commenced a 10-year partnership with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, also manage the nearby Phoenix Leisure Centre in Bradwell.

If you feel driven to inspire people to have fun, be more active and improve their wellbeing - and would like a job that will make a real difference to local people's lives, then Freedom Leisure is the place for you!

Management opportunities are now available - and opportunities within the operational, fitness, catering, events and front of house teams will also be available in the coming months. Freedom Leisure is also looking to recruit swimming teachers and lifeguards with excellent training opportunities available in these roles.

All live vacancies for the new centre can be found on the Freedom website, whilst expressions of interest are also welcomed via email: jobs@freedom-leisure.co.uk

Great Yarmouth Borough Council leader Carl Smith, said: "Our new Marina Centre is going to offer residents and visitors some of the best sports and leisure facilities in the area, but for it to really have an impact on people's health and wellbeing we need a great team helping everyone build confidence in the water, in the gym, and on the climbing wall. These are important jobs, and with Freedom we are confident that staff themselves will have the chance to grow and develop too."

Ivan Horsfall Turner, CEO of Freedom Leisure, said: "We are so pleased to see the progress being made with the construction of the Marina Centre. Working at the fabulous new facility will be a great opportunity to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of the Great Yarmouth community.  We are therefore keen to provide local employment opportunities to individuals who want to join our mission of improving lives through leisure"
