Visit Great Yarmouth Wheels Festival in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance announces exciting exhibitors

A range of new of exhibitors have been announced for Visitor Great Yarmouth Wheels Festival in aid of EAAA as the two-day, free-to-attend festival prepares to take over the town's seafront.

Organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council with funding from Visit Great Yarmouth and additional sponsorship from Wellington Pier, the festival will take place from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, July 1, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, July 2, with a collection of classic and contemporary vehicles lining up to star in the seafront show.

Volunteers from East Anglia Air Ambulance will be on hand spreading awareness of their life-saving charity, as well as collecting donations throughout the weekend to raise vital funds for its work.

Local charity East Coast Truckers, which has a dedicated team of unpaid members and organises day trips for disabled and under-privileged families, will be showcasing some of its trucks and sharing information about its important work.

The festival organisers are also pleased to be welcoming public sector and emergency vehicles and partners to help highlight important water and road safety messages. Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, Norfolk and Suffolk Roads, the Armed Policing Team, HM Coastguard and Hemsby Lifeboat will all be there with emergency vehicles, with visitors encouraged to meet the teams and learn more about what they do.

Visitors can also meet a fantastic range of exhibitors throughout the weekend, lots with free activities to take part in, including:

  • Norfolk Fire Museum will be in attendance with their historic fire engines, which people will be encouraged to climb aboard! Families will be able to learn about fire safety, have a go on the tombola and kids will be able to put out a fire in a burning vehicle.
  • Freshly Greated will wheeling out the infamous six Joyland Snails which will be sure to be creating havoc on the seafront! The team will also have two walkabout acts: Elton Wong, who wheels around on his pedal-powered piano, and audio Assault Buggy. Visitors can place pretend bets for a hamster racing activity and snail-themed face painting will be on offer.

Jaguar Racing Livery Cars and F8 Ferrari will join car clubs including East Coast Pirates and Iconic American Autos at the event for the entire weekend. More clubs will be joining them on Sunday, including JDM Dragons, Sporting Car Club of Norfolk, Airheads, Norfolk & Suffolk Subaru Club, East Anglia's Ford Owners Club, Cars Against Humanity, Eastside Jap, East of England Fords, VW Cortado Club of Great Britain, MR2 Drivers Club and Fenland Cruisers.

New to the festival this year will be a Go Green Arena with electric vehicle and related products on display to show an alternative cleaner, greener way for petrolheads to travel.

Lyndon Bevan, Chair of Visit Great Yarmouth, said he was looking forward to welcoming lots of new visitors to the town.

"The line-up this year is second to none. We have a whole raft of new exhibitors with something new and different on offer, alongside the fantastic favourites we have come to know and love.

"The Wheels Festival is always extremely well attended, but with the plethora of demonstrations, entertainment and the classic and contemporary vehicles on display we're looking forward to a bumper turnout."

Car and bike enthusiasts looking to attend with their vehicles are encouraged to turn up on the day at the specified times advertised on the festival's Facebook page. All vehicles are welcome both days, although the event would love to welcome motorbikes and scooters on Saturday and classic and modified cars on Sunday.
