Housing allocations policy and scheme
22. Support or care packages
22. Support or care packages
- 22.1. Some applicants (such as care leavers, and people with serious mental illness, dementia, or learning disabilities) will only be eligible for an offer of accommodation once it is confirmed that they have a recognised support or care package in place. This support or care package need not be provided through Social Services, but, subject to landlord agreement, could include other forms of support, for example from family or friends. The support or care package will be reconfirmed before an offer of accommodation is made to ensure that applicants are supported to live successfully in their new home.
- 22.2. Notwithstanding the above, the Council will not directly accept persons on to the Housing Register, nor make an offer of accommodation to an applicant, who lacks mental capacity or the capacity to manage a tenancy independently. Any such applications must be made by a Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.
