North Quay regeneration : timeline

  1. 2015: Local Plan Core Strategy adopted: North Quay identified within the wider waterfront regeneration area.
  2. May 2017:Town Centre Regeneration Framework & Masterplan highlights North Quay as a key mixed-use waterfront opportunity.
  3. October 2020: Town Board approves proposals for Towns Fund support and local funding for land assembly.
  4. December 2020: Town Investment Plan submitted to Government, including North Quay
  5. March 2021: Government issues Town Deal Heads of Terms, including North Quay.
  6. May 2021: Town Board agrees revised allocations to enable land acquisition.
  7. June-July 2022: Full Business Case, Delivery Plan and Masterplan for the Riverside Gateway (North Quay) completed.
  8. November 2022: Land Assembly documentation in place.
  9. April 2023: Memorandum of Understanding signed with Government for Levelling Up Funding for the Riverside Gateway.
  10. July 2023: Land Assembly and Engagement Strategy approved.
  11. August 2023: Prior Information Notice published to launch master-developer procurement.
  12. September 2023: Developer awareness event held at Town Hall.
  13. June 2024: Contract Notice published to procure a Master Developer for North Quay.
  14. September 2024: Competitive dialogue closes; final tenders submitted.
  15. December 2024: Final tenders invited; Council confirmed Vauxhall Bridge renovation plans will go to Cabinet.
  16. May 2025: Willmott Dixon appointed as development partner for the North Quay Waterfront project.
  17. December 2025: Council unveiled masterplan.
