Discretionary Home Repair Grant| Purpose of assistance | Repair of structure to mitigate hazards or improve living conditions. |

| Grant available | - subject to available funds grants of up to £5,000 are available
- assistance via this route is capped at £5,000 in any twelve-month period

| Eligible persons | Residents of the borough who own their home or are private tenants responsible for carrying out the works as set out in the tenancy agreement. Have a household income of less than £36,000 and meet one or more of the following: - is aged 65 and over, or has a child under 5, or is pregnant
- has a health or vulnerability condition that can be exacerbated by living in a cold home, as referenced in the National Institute for Health Excellence (NICE) guideline on "Excess winter deaths and illness and the health risks associated with cold homes"; this guidance identifies people with the following health conditions as being particularly vulnerable to cold:
- people with cardiovascular conditions
- people with respiratory conditions (in particular, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and childhood asthma)
- people with mental health conditions, and
- people with disabilities
- people who are terminally ill
- people with suppressed immune systems (e.g., from cancer treatment or HIV)
Written confirmation from a GP, hospital consultant or other medical professional of qualifying conditions a) to f) will be required. |

| Scope of works | Works may include: - replacement or repair of slip resistant flooring in a wet room previously installed under a DFG
- remedy of structural dampness or treatment of mold
- replacement windows or doors
- installation of security measures including additional window locks, door chains and video doorbells
- electrical fault finding and remedy
- installation of smoke/heat detectors
- roofing repairs to prevent water ingress
